The Central Bank of The Bahamas has completed an initial study to support the development of a national fast payment system. Conducted from July 15 to 24 with Montran Corporation, the study introduced stakeholders to the project and assessed the infrastructure needed for implementation. The proposed system would enable person-to-person, person-to-business and person-to-government payments within seconds, 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. It is intended to support SandDollar and included a two-day workshop involving the central bank, the system vendor and other stakeholders. The central bank will provide further updates on project milestones, stakeholder engagement and implementation plans as the initiative progresses.
