The Financial Stability Board has issued a call for academic papers for a session titled “The Impact of Extreme Weather Events on the Financial System” at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Central Bank Research Association (CEBRA), to be held from 6 to 8 August 2025 at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and Harvard Business School. The call highlights that while the global macroeconomic effects of extreme weather events have been limited so far, uncertainties around timing, magnitude, non-linearity and spillovers, alongside potential mispricing or mismanagement of risks, complicate assessment of future impacts. Submissions are sought on direct and indirect financial-system effects, with particular interest in cross-border and cross-sectoral transmission channels and implications for financial institutions and financial stability. Papers must be submitted via the CEBRA website by 20 March 2025.
