The Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen) has opened an investigation into whether Swedbank has complied with anti-money laundering requirements related to achieving adequate customer due diligence. The investigation focuses on the bank’s measures for customer knowledge and covers the period from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2025. Finansinspektionen also flagged the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing as a supervisory priority for 2026, emphasising the role of robust customer due diligence in mitigating financial crime risks.
