The Ministry of Finance of Moldova announced that an International Monetary Fund expert team is visiting Chișinău from 7 to 20 May 2026 in the context of negotiations on a new program with the IMF supported by the Policy Coordination Instrument. Meetings with ministry leadership and specialists will focus on tax reform, stronger budget and fiscal discipline, more efficient public revenue administration, and Moldova’s economic and financial development priorities. The agenda also includes macroeconomic policies, monetary policy, financial sector stability, and capital market development. During the mission, IMF experts will review recent economic developments, update the assessment of the macroeconomic outlook and risks, and discuss policy and reform priorities with the authorities and other relevant parties. The ministry said the Policy Coordination Instrument provides a framework for enhanced dialogue with the IMF and signals Fund support for the authorities’ policies, which can help strengthen external partner confidence and mobilize financing from other sources.
