The European Central Bank published its balance sheet as of July 31, 2026, showing total assets and liabilities of EUR 5.941 trillion, down EUR 2.767 billion from the previous week due to transactions. Securities issued by euro area residents declined by EUR 11.456 billion, including a EUR 10.765 billion reduction in securities held for monetary policy purposes, while lending to euro area credit institutions for monetary policy operations increased by EUR 5.038 billion. On the liabilities side, deposit facility balances fell by EUR 28.617 billion as credit institutions’ current-account balances rose by EUR 27.050 billion. Liabilities to non-euro area residents denominated in euro decreased by EUR 9.854 billion, while liabilities to other euro area residents increased by EUR 4.476 billion.
