The Central Bank of Kenya has cancelled the authority granted to Bank Al-Habib Ltd of Pakistan to operate a representative office in Kenya under Section 43 of the Banking Act, resulting in the office’s closure. The exit took effect on May 15, 2025 and follows a strategic decision by Bank Al-Habib to rationalise its foreign operations. The representative office, authorised on April 9, 2018, operated as a marketing and liaison office for the parent bank and its international affiliates.
