The Bank of Greece reported provisional data showing that the travel services surplus increased to EUR 6.93 billion in the first half of 2026, from EUR 6.01 billion a year earlier. Travel receipts rose 14.8% to EUR 8.80 billion, driven by a 15.4% increase in inbound travellers to 13.49 million, while average expenditure per trip declined 0.6%. In June, the surplus edged down to EUR 3.12 billion from EUR 3.13 billion as a 17.1% rise in travel payments outweighed a 1.2% increase in receipts to EUR 3.48 billion. Inbound traveller flows grew 6.9%, but average expenditure per trip fell 6.2%. For the first half, receipts increased from both European Union residents and residents of other countries, while road arrivals rose 49.3% and airport arrivals increased 7.3%.
