The Central Bank of Iraq affirmed that its foreign reserves are sufficient to meet all foreign currency requests for external trade financing, bank card settlements and travelers’ cash dollar needs at the official exchange rate. It attributed the rise in local market exchange rates to speculation, market expectations and the exploitation of regional geopolitical conditions. The central bank will continue financing external trade through approved purposes and channels to support the flow of imports and meet domestic market needs. It urged the public to rely exclusively on its official information and data.
