South Korea’s Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that its Export Plus Support Group and export support agencies met advanced industry companies in Gwangju on Aug. 25 to discuss export barriers and available assistance. Participating companies operate in sectors including optical communications and components, secondary battery equipment, health care and biotechnology. Companies highlighted the burden of country-specific certification and regulation, rising export logistics costs, difficulties finding overseas buyers and the need for tailored advice on export finance and guarantees. Officials outlined existing support matched to companies’ export stages and needs, including overseas certification mentoring, export and logistics vouchers, policy funding for export-oriented small and medium-sized enterprises, and overseas buyer-matching services.
