Argentina’s Securities Commission (CNV) president Roberto E. Silva used a Fireblocks event appearance to outline the CNV’s recently approved framework for registering, regulating and supervising Virtual Asset Service Providers (PSAVs). Silva traced the work back to the passage and enactment of Law No. 27.739, which expanded the CNV’s mandate to cover PSAV registration and oversight, and described the CNV’s efforts to implement the law’s reforms to the national anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing framework. The regime includes the creation of a PSAV register via General Resolution 994 and implementing rules approved after a public consultation via General Resolution 1058; the CNV president highlighted that General Resolution 1058 sets deadlines for meeting the requirements and that providers that do not comply will not be able to operate in Argentina.
