The Financial Stability Board’s Regional Consultative Group for the Americas met in Mexico City to assess global and regional financial vulnerabilities, including geopolitical uncertainty, extreme weather impacts, capital flows and exchange rates. The discussions continued the group’s 2026 focus on operational resilience and other risks affecting financial stability across the region. Members examined cross-border vulnerabilities and regulatory challenges arising from global stablecoin arrangements. They also considered the implications of artificial intelligence and quantum computing for cybersecurity and operational resilience, and regional preparedness for cyber incidents and third-party outages. A dedicated workshop addressed vulnerabilities from extreme weather events, while members also provided input on the FSB’s 2026 work priorities.
