The Uruguay Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva will visit Montevideo on July 30 for an official agenda centered on meetings with Economy and Finance Minister Gabriel Oddone and other senior officials. The discussions with the economic team are expected to cover Uruguay’s economic priorities, the country’s challenges and opportunities, and its international positioning in a global environment marked by uncertainty. The agenda also includes meetings with President Yamandu Orsi, Central Bank of Uruguay President Guillermo Tolosa in his capacity as Uruguay’s governor at the IMF, and private sector representatives. Georgieva is also scheduled to take part in the Annual Economics Conference organized by the Central Bank of Uruguay. The ministry said the visit takes place in a year when Uruguay is receiving IMF technical assistance to improve the transparency and efficiency of its national accounts.
