The Angola Capital Markets Commission participated in an investor roundtable held alongside the 25th Annual General Assembly of African Trade & Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI), focused on “Reducing the Cost of Capital in Africa”. The Commission was represented by Executive Administrator Vasco Januário and Dalvim Pipa, Director of the Department of Studies, Strategy, Development and Communication. In the discussions, Pipa highlighted the role of capital markets in widening financing alternatives and supporting lower funding costs, including the contribution of Angola’s Privatization Programme (PROPRIV) to launching equity trading on the stock exchange, and the need to build synergies to strengthen investor and potential issuer capabilities. Other topics covered included the use of guarantees by multilateral entities to help reduce the cost of capital and the development of processing industries to add value to exports.
