The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) held the second activity under its fourth-year “OIC: Be Smart First Jobber” programme at Prince of Songkla University’s Hat Yai campus, aiming to build insurance awareness among university students preparing to enter the workforce and to highlight career pathways in the insurance sector. The event followed the first fourth-year session at Khon Kaen University on 2 July 2025 and brought together OIC leadership, insurance industry representatives and students from the Hat Yai and Trang campuses. Activities included an insurance career discussion with the regulator and industry and a mini job fair featuring more than 30 life, non-life and insurance brokerage companies, alongside motivational and locally focused sessions. OIC also referenced the sector’s role in the economy, citing insurance industry investment assets of more than THB 4.5 trillion, and described Songkhla as a strategic southern hub with GPP of THB 250 billion and direct premiums of around THB 15 billion (life THB 10.8 billion, non-life THB 4.88 billion). OIC positioned the programme as part of its ongoing work to strengthen financial resilience among students and broaden understanding and access to insurance, aligned with the insurance development plan and the financial skills development action plan.
