The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission has signed an agreement with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the Philippine Statistics Authority establishing a data-sharing framework to improve the measurement of foreign direct investment. The framework will integrate bank-reported and enterprise-sourced information in line with international standards and seek to address potential underreporting of foreign direct investment. The commission will periodically provide corporate data and documents through a central repository managed by the statistics authority, as well as access to relevant application programming interface endpoints and its government document-exchange platform. In return, the central bank will provide the commission with statistics, analyses and studies generated from the compiled data. The commission has already transmitted information covering more than 16,000 registered corporations and partnerships with foreign direct investments and supplied data on the country’s largest corporations for an International Monetary Fund-led survey.
