The Portuguese Insurance Regulator (ASF) has launched a questionnaire for stakeholders in the insurance and pension fund markets to gather input on how best to build a secure, value-creating technology ecosystem. The initiative forms part of ASF’s work to promote responsible and secure innovation and to strengthen communication with the insurance and pension fund sectors. Measures under consideration include the possible creation of a Technological Free Zone, as provided for in Decree-Law No. 67/2021 of 30 July, which would enable real-world testing of technologies, products and services in a physical or virtual environment under ongoing ASF oversight and with the possibility of adapting or derogating from certain legal or regulatory requirements.
