The Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) and the Malta Stock Exchange (MSE) jointly hosted GRC Week Malta 2026 as a national forum to strengthen governance, risk and compliance (GRC) across Malta’s financial sector and connect supervisory priorities with market development. The programme brought together local and international participants to discuss the evolving regulatory landscape and supervisory challenges, with sessions covering ESG integration, operational resilience, financial crime compliance, sustainable finance, data-driven oversight, and the opportunities and risks from digital innovation and artificial intelligence. MFSA Chairman Jesmond Gatt linked the agenda to the Authority’s supervisory strengthening, pointing to investment in supervisory capacity, a risk-based approach, and higher governance expectations across the sector. MSE Executive Chairman Joseph Portelli highlighted the role of strong governance and robust market infrastructure in maintaining market confidence, and framed MFSA–MSE collaboration as central to supporting issuers and investors as regulation and digital transformation reshape capital markets.
