The Central Bank of Paraguay reported on the fifth BCP Economics Conference, held jointly with the Inter-American Development Bank as a forum on Latin America's economic outlook and policy challenges. The event brought together academics and specialized professionals for discussions spanning macroeconomics, financial stability, international economic policy and globalization. The main international presentations focused on central bank foreign exchange intervention in the current environment and on trade policy and globalization. Eduardo Levi-Yeyati addressed the historical evolution of exchange-rate intervention and the challenges created by rising volatility, while Vanessa Isabel Alviarez examined U.S. tariff decisions and their effects. National speakers also contributed to the debate, and the program included poster-style research presentations under junior and senior categories for undergraduate, master's, doctoral and active research participants.
