The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) confirmed that the 2026 Dynamic General Insurance Stress Test (DyGIST) will start in May 2026, with the exercise’s objectives and format unchanged from those set out in its original announcement. Participation is expected to be drawn from the insurers listed in Annex A, which the PRA said collectively represent more than 80% of the PRA-regulated general insurance market by gross written premium, including several of the largest UK branches. The final scenarios will be shared only during the live phase of the exercise, and results will be published at sector level. Participating firms will be invited to a workshop in September 2025 covering logistics, followed by a further workshop involving firms, vendors and brokers that may support delivery. The PRA will also continue to invite trade bodies to participate, with workshops intended to provide ongoing operational support and gather feedback on running stylised adverse events.
