The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) has published a statement giving an early indication that it intends to launch the next Life Insurance Stress Test (LIST) exercise in January 2028, continuing its programme of regular stress testing for the UK life insurance sector. The PRA positioned LIST 2025 as a milestone in assessing and explaining insurers’ resilience under Solvency UK, using firm-specific and aggregate sector disclosures for the first time. During 2026, it plans to engage with participating firms and wider users of the disclosures to capture lessons from LIST 2025 and to inform the next exercise’s design, including potential responses to simplifications or limitations in LIST 2025 and to evolving sector risks. Further details are expected in Q4 2026, including any changes to the scope or methodology and confirmation of likely firms in scope.
