The European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) announced that it will hold a public hearing with Claudia Buch, Chair of the European Central Bank’s Supervisory Board, on 27 March 2025. The session will be used for the annual accountability presentation of the European Central Bank’s annual report on supervisory activities for 2024. In line with Article 20(3) of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM) Regulation, Buch will set out key messages from the report, including the importance of banking sector resilience and structural reforms, and will explore possible simplifications in the current framework. An exchange of views with ECON members will follow.
