The Capital Markets Board of Türkiye announced temporary market measures aimed at limiting the potential impact of geopolitical tensions and conflicts on the capital markets, including a ban on short selling in Borsa Istanbul’s equity markets and a relaxation of the equity ratio requirement for margin transactions. The short selling ban applies to Borsa Istanbul AŞ share markets from 2 March 2026 through the end of the trading session on 6 March 2026. Over the same period, the equity ratio requirement for leveraged capital market transactions will be applied in a more flexible manner.
