The Albania Financial Services Authority reported that its Executive General Director, Mimoza Kaçi, took part in EIOPA’s “Eastern Cooperation Meeting – Insurance Regulation on the Path to European Integration” roundtable in Tirana, focused on exchanging supervisory experience between European Union member-state regulators and candidate countries. In her capacity as negotiator for Chapter 9 “Financial Services”, Kaçi discussed developments in Albania’s insurance market as a developing market and highlighted common similarities and challenges faced by candidate countries, including how EIOPA mechanisms can support integration processes. Discussions also covered joint regional initiatives and the need to strengthen supervisory capacity to support reforms aligning with the European Union acquis, with financial stability, consumer protection and sustainable development of the insurance market cited as key priorities. Senior participants included EIOPA Chair Petra Hielkema, Vygandas Jankunas from the European Commission’s DG FISMA, World Bank expert Danita Pattemore and Peter Braumuller from the Austrian Financial Market Authority.
