Securities Commission Malaysia has announced the membership of its Shariah Advisory Council for a three-year term running from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2029. The council, which determines the application of Shariah principles for Islamic capital market businesses and transactions, will comprise one new appointee and six reappointed members. The new appointee is Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im Haji Mokhtar. The reappointed members are Professor Dr. Engku Rabiah Adawiah Engku Ali, Dato’ Dr. Ashraf Md Hashim, Professor Dato’ Dr. Asmadi Mohamed Naim, Dato’ Setia Dr. Haji Anhar Haji Opir, Dr. Marjan Muhammad and Encik Burhanuddin Lukman. Established under the Securities Commission Malaysia Act 1993, the council also supports the development of Malaysia’s Islamic capital market through resolutions and policy guidance while upholding Shariah integrity.
