The People’s Bank of China announced it will issue one Chinese Peking Opera Art standard commemorative coin on 25 November 2025. The coin will have a face value of CNY 5 and will circulate at par with existing renminbi of the same denomination. The obverse design features the national emblem of the People’s Republic of China with the country name above and the year “2025” below, alongside imagery of Chinese opera instruments. The reverse features a “Jing” (painted-face) role image from Peking Opera with partial colour elements, decorative motifs, and the inscription “Chinese Peking Opera Art” plus the CNY 5 denomination. The coin will be 30 mm in diameter, made of brass alloy, and issued in a total quantity of 60 million pieces, with provincial allocation tables provided. Distribution will follow a reservation-and-redemption model, with operational arrangements and public anti-counterfeiting features set out in the annexes.
