The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) ordered the blocking of two websites it says are unlawfully offering insurance services. The sites identified are rc.astra-fcagroup.it and mcr.piemonteserviziassicurativi.it (including www.mcr.piemonteserviziassicurativi.it). Blocking is being implemented by internet service providers operating in Italy and may take several days for technical reasons. IVASS reported that the total number of abusive sites blocked since it began exercising this power in November 2023 has reached 348, and it advised consumers to be wary of policy offers arranged via instant messaging and of payment requests using prepaid credit cards, and to rely on the official IVASS lists of supervised insurers and intermediaries.
