The Central Bank of Brunei Darussalam has issued investment guidance in conjunction with National Financial Literacy Day, urging individuals to assess their financial readiness and make decisions aligned with their goals, time horizons and risk tolerance. It emphasized that investing is not a quick route to profits and that individuals should invest only money they will not need for daily expenses or other commitments during the investment period. The five-point guidance calls on investors to establish a sound financial foundation, set clear goals, understand products and their risks, recognize warning signs and use only licensed providers. Individuals should examine potential returns, fees, withdrawal conditions and investment periods, while remaining cautious of guaranteed high returns, pressure to act quickly, unsolicited offers and unusual payment methods. Investors should verify providers against the central bank’s List of Licensees and Alert List.
