The European Central Bank published its weekly financial statement showing total assets and liabilities of EUR 5.923 trillion as of Aug. 7, down EUR 18.225 billion from the previous week due to transactions. On the asset side, other assets fell EUR 20.840 billion, securities held for monetary policy purposes declined EUR 6.536 billion and monetary policy lending to euro area credit institutions decreased EUR 6.137 billion. These movements were partly offset by a EUR 12.650 billion increase in other euro-denominated claims on euro area credit institutions. On the liability side, liabilities to other euro area residents fell EUR 12.414 billion, while monetary policy-related liabilities to credit institutions rose EUR 4.300 billion as a EUR 14.447 billion increase in deposit facility balances more than offset a EUR 10.146 billion decline in current accounts.
