The Central Bank of the Philippines reported that 528 transaction accounts were opened during a Youth Financial Inclusion Initiative event at Southern Leyte State University on Aug. 20. More than 1,000 students participated in the activity, which was led by Youth Financial Inclusion Ambassadors from the Visayas in collaboration with the central bank and participating banks. The event was the program’s second account-opening activity in the region. The student ambassador program combines account onboarding with financial literacy initiatives and supports the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion 2022-2028, with a focus on improving young people’s access to formal financial services and financial capability.
