Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK) held the closing event of Financial Inclusion Month 2025 in Surabaya, highlighting financial literacy and inclusion as drivers of welfare and economic growth and urging a move beyond basic account ownership toward more productive use of financial products such as lending, capital market and bond investment, and insurance. As part of the programme, OJK is running Financial Expo (FinExpo) 2025 on 23–26 October 2025 at Tunjungan Plaza in Surabaya, bringing together government bodies, financial services institutions, associations and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to provide public education, consultations and direct access to financial services. Across Financial Inclusion Month 2025, OJK recorded 5,182 financial literacy and inclusion activities nationwide, reaching 10,874,634 participants, up 67.87% from the previous year, and reporting new access including 3.55 million new bank accounts, 1.47 million new financing-company loan accounts, 720,000 new fintech accounts, 951,000 new insurance policies, 643,000 new capital market accounts and 5.01 million new pawnshop accounts. The campaign also reported outreach to 180 disadvantaged villages across 73 districts and cities in Indonesia’s frontier, outermost and least-developed regions.
