Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) director Sonia Salvatierra participated in the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Retail Investors Committee (C8) meeting in Madrid, where members discussed international work on financial education and retail investor protection. During the meeting, she also presented Argentina’s proposal for the next C8 plenary session, planned to take place in Buenos Aires in June. Agenda items included the global launch of the Global Money Week 2025 programme, updates on the Fintech Task Force and work on artificial intelligence, governance proposals for World Investor Week, and developments in the Retail Investors Coordination Group and their implications for C8. Salvatierra said Argentina is prioritising financial education and highlighted the importance of collaboration with IOSCO on retail investor protection and investor education. On the margins, she met the C8 Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary General to advance Argentina’s hosting proposal, which she said is expected to bring together representatives from more than 30 countries. Ahead of the committee meeting, Salvatierra also met Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) Director General of Markets to exchange views on technology and digital transformation, regulation of virtual asset service providers (PSAVs) and digital assets in Spain and the European Union, implementation of ESG standards in securities markets, and potential cooperation on financial education and financial inclusion initiatives.
