In remarks at a financial services reception, Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission Chairman Dr Kelvin Wong said the regulator will publish a statement on September 23 outlining strategic actions to implement the government’s first five-year plan and latest Policy Address in the capital markets. The agenda will seek to increase market competitiveness and activity while preserving quality, integrity and trust. The government plans call for Hong Kong to strengthen its offshore renminbi, international asset and wealth management, and international risk management functions, while deepening markets and connectivity. Wong said investor protection and market development are complementary objectives, with confidence and professional conduct providing the basis for sustainable growth.
