The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) ordered the cessation of insurance intermediation carried out through five websites that it says were offering insurance services without authorisation, and instructed their blocking. Italian internet service providers have begun implementing the blocks, which may take several days for technical reasons. The websites cited are dvconsultingprime.com; ass.airoldiassicurazioniarona.it (including the www version); rca.luceassicurazioni.it (including the www version); brokergiorgionicolai.it (including the www version); and unipolsaicomo.com (including the www version). The cease-and-desist orders are published on IVASS’s “Difendiamoci dalle truffe” section, and the authority reported that the cumulative number of sites subject to such orders has reached 299 since it began exercising this blocking power in November 2023. IVASS also reiterated consumer guidance to use caution with insurance offers made via the internet, phone, or messaging apps, especially temporary motor third-party liability policies, and to verify that quotes and contracts relate to authorised insurers and intermediaries by checking IVASS registers and lists, including the Register of Insurance Intermediaries (RUI).
