The People’s Bank of China convened a roundtable with 15 foreign financial institutions to gather recommendations on improving the business environment and further opening the financial sector. Governor Pan Gongsheng said the central bank would steadily expand two-way access to financial markets, improve cross-border payment services and make international use of the renminbi more convenient, continuing its broader focus on cross-border renminbi policy. Pan also reviewed economic and financial conditions and the implementation of monetary policy, reiterating that the central bank would maintain an appropriately accommodative stance to support stable economic growth and financial markets. Participating institutions acknowledged progress in financial reform and opening and called for continued policy improvements and stronger communication with market participants.
