The Central Bank of the UAE reported broad growth in monetary and banking aggregates in August 2026, led by a 2.6% monthly increase in gross credit to AED 2,871.4 billion and a 4.2% rise in the monetary base to AED 825.9 billion. Gross banking assets increased 1.3% to AED 5,741.3 billion, while bank deposits rose 0.7% to AED 3,534.8 billion. Domestic credit grew 2.8% to AED 2,268.8 billion, driven mainly by private sector lending. Credit to individuals increased 5.6%, or AED 34.4 billion, while corporate credit rose 2.4%, or AED 22.8 billion. Foreign credit increased 1.6% to AED 602.6 billion. Resident deposits grew 1% to AED 3,229.3 billion, supported by private sector and government sector deposits. Broad money also expanded, with M2 and M3 each increasing 0.7% to AED 2,919.9 billion and AED 3,465.6 billion, respectively. Corporate deposits were the main contributor to both measures, while higher government deposits also supported M3 growth. M1 stood at AED 1,038.9 billion.
