The Central Bank of Aruba published its financial sector bulletin for the first two quarters of 2026, reporting that loans to enterprises increased by AWG 178.5 million in the second quarter to AWG 2.45 billion. Total private sector claims rose by AWG 217.5 million, also reflecting increases of AWG 23.8 million in housing mortgages and AWG 15.2 million in consumer credit. Broad money increased by AWG 497.4 million to AWG 7.72 billion, driven by a AWG 546.3 million rise in net foreign assets. Domestic credit declined by AWG 84.9 million as a AWG 302.4 million fall in net claims on the public sector, resulting from higher government deposits, outweighed private sector credit growth. Commercial banks’ interest rate margin narrowed by 0.2 percentage point to 3.6%, as the weighted average rate on new deposits rose to 2.7% and the rate on new loans increased to 6.3%.
