Islamic Development Bank Group Chairman Muhammad Al Jasser met Brunei government ministers to advance the newly launched IsDB Group–Brunei Country Engagement Framework 2026–2028. The discussions focused on translating the framework into practical initiatives supporting sustainable Islamic finance, private sector development and Brunei’s economic diversification agenda. A Joint Steering Committee and three working groups will identify projects in areas including Islamic finance, food security and small and medium-sized enterprises. The meetings also considered measures to raise productivity, expand access to finance and use Sukuk, as well as strengthen legislative and governance arrangements for Awqaf and deploy the Awqaf Properties Investment Fund to support the productive use of Waqf assets.

The Islamic Development Bank and Brunei discussed implementing their 2026–2028 engagement framework through projects supporting Islamic finance, food security, small and medium-sized enterprises and economic diversification. Priorities include expanding access to finance, using Sukuk and strengthening Awqaf governance and investment.
