The Central Bank of Taiwan published its May 2026 data on new lending rates at the five major domestic banks, showing the weighted average interest rate on newly extended loans rose by 0.002 percentage points to 2.208% from 2.206% in April. The increase reflected lower rates on consumer loans but higher rates across all other loan categories. Because the five major banks recorded no Treasury borrowings in May, the weighted average rate excluding Treasury borrowings was also 2.208%, up by 0.002 percentage points from the previous month. The next release, covering June 2026, is scheduled for 16:20 on July 22, 2026.
