The National Bank of Georgia published an update on a meeting between Governor Natia Turnava and Fatih Karahan, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, held on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings in the United States, where the two central banks agreed to strengthen cooperation on payment systems and financial technologies. The talks focused on deepening institutional collaboration and improving information exchange across monetary policy frameworks, payment systems and financial sector supervision. The central bank leaders also shared experiences in developing supervisory approaches and payment infrastructure, with particular attention to Türkiye’s implementation of an instant payment system and adoption of a QR code standard. Representatives from the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye are expected to visit the National Bank of Georgia in the near future to share expertise and insights.
