The Central Bank of Taiwan published April 2026 data on the Taipei foreign exchange market, showing total net trading volume of USD 932.2 billion after eliminating double counting from interbank transactions. Average daily turnover was USD 46.6 billion. The data cover all foreign exchange transactions by authorized foreign exchange banks and offshore banking units. Interbank transactions accounted for USD 677.1 billion, or 72.6% of turnover, including USD 448.4 billion with foreign banks and USD 228.7 billion with domestic banks, while transactions between banks and customers totaled USD 255.1 billion. By currency, third-currency trades reached USD 482.3 billion and NTD against foreign currency trades USD 449.9 billion, with NTD/USD the largest pair at USD 432.2 billion. Foreign exchange swaps were the main instrument at USD 509.2 billion, followed by spot transactions at USD 357.9 billion, and direct dealing accounted for 64.0% of trading. Separately, banks reported USD 9.3 billion in interest rate swaps and USD 4.4 billion in interest rate options.
