The Ontario Securities Commission announced that Sergiy Kaspirovych of Toronto was charged with making a false statement to the OSC under the Securities Act (Ontario). The OSC alleges he submitted forged criminal record checks to support his application to register as a scholarship plan dealing representative. The alleged conduct occurred between March 16, 2023 and April 1, 2023 and involved criminal record checks purportedly from two police agencies. The charge is one count under section 122(1)(a) of the Securities Act for submitting information to the OSC that was materially misleading or untrue, or omitted required facts, in light of the circumstances. The investigation was conducted by the OSC Enforcement Division, with assistance from the Toronto Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Kaspirovych is scheduled to appear in court on February 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in Toronto.
