The Central Bank of Honduras clarified differences between its official lempira-US dollar selling exchange rate data and figures reported by some media outlets. It attributed the discrepancies to an incorrect interpretation of how the rate of depreciation is calculated and called for comparisons based on equivalent periods and consistent methods. The official selling rate closed at HNL 25.5069 per US dollar in 2024, an increase of about HNL 0.73, and at HNL 26.5056 in 2025, an increase of HNL 1.00. Between Jan. 27 and Aug. 31, 2026, the rate rose by HNL 0.43 to HNL 27.0004.
