The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published guidance for borrowers who have disputes with a microfinance organisation over a microcredit, explaining that they can refer the case to the microfinance ombudsman. The note describes the ombudsman as an independent, free dispute-resolution mechanism and reminds firms that the ombudsman’s decision is binding on microfinance organisations. The guidance outlines submission channels, including the ombudsman’s official website, email and an in-person option, and lists the required documentation: a written application, a borrower questionnaire, proof of identity, the microcredit agreement and repayment schedule (and any amendments), any prior complaints to the microfinance organisation or a rights-assignee and responses (if available), and consents for personal data processing and obtaining a credit report. It also recalls that Kazakhstan introduced the microfinance ombudsman institution on 21 December 2024.
