The ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) issued an alert about a suspected fraudulent scheme and false and misleading claims made by an entity or purported entity named SGV Advisory FZ LLC or Strategic Global Ventures on the website https://sgv-group.com. The FSRA warned that the entity is not authorised to carry on regulated activities in or from ADGM and is not incorporated or licensed to undertake commercial activities in ADGM. The website was found to be offering an investment platform for General Partner investors with a target of USD 500,000 and promoting “day-one FSRA cover” and “FSRA license cover from day one”, including claims that a “Resident Director” would provide FSRA cover until an ICC licence is obtained. The website named a “Resident Director” who is an Approved Person for another FSRA licensed entity, but the FSRA confirmed the individual has no connection to Strategic Global Ventures and did not grant permission for the use of their name and image. The FSRA reiterated that only firms authorised by the FSRA can undertake regulated activities in ADGM and advised investors to verify any firm’s Financial Services Permission via the FSRA Public Register and to check the ADGM Registration Authority’s Public Register for incorporation or registration claims.
