The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan announced that trading in the UzNIF fund has started on the London Stock Exchange, bringing a portfolio of Uzbekistan’s strategic state assets to international capital markets. The fund combines major companies in energy, aviation, telecommunications, transport and banking, and the ministry presented the move as the first time these assets have been put directly before global investors in this way. The release cited BlackRock, Franklin Templeton and Redwheel as examples of large international investors now focused on Uzbekistan through this market entry. It also noted that Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the Presidential Administration, and Obid Hakimov, the President’s adviser on economic policy, are participating in the London event.
