The Central Bank of Iraq said Gov. Nizar Nasser Hussein met the speaker of the Council of Representatives to discuss how to develop the country’s banking and financial sector. In the meeting, the governor set out a banking reform plan that calls for comprehensive strategic programs to modernize the sector and upgrade its infrastructure. The talks also covered current economic challenges and ways to strengthen the financial system in support of sustainable development. A key point was closer coordination between the legislative authority and monetary policy on institutional performance to improve the efficiency of Iraqi banks.
