The Bank of Albania provided an update on domestic economic and financial conditions during a meeting with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Governor Gent Sejko said the economy is expected to maintain solid growth, while the banking system remains stable and reports sound capitalization, liquidity and profitability. The nonperforming loan ratio has fallen to 3.7%, its lowest level since 2008. The discussions also covered cooperation on climate-related risk management, money market development and assessment of Albania’s regulatory and supervisory framework against European Union standards. Further work includes the WE Finance Code initiative to improve access to finance for women entrepreneurs and support financing for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
