The Central Bank of Peru published payroll-based indicators showing national formal employment grew 3.4% year on year in October, marking 19 consecutive months of expansion and translating into 212,000 additional formal jobs. In the private sector, formal jobs increased 4.2% from a year earlier to 4.665 million, a gain of 187,000 positions. Services, agriculture and commerce contributed the largest increases in headcount, adding 83,000, 41,000 and 31,000 jobs respectively, while mining recorded the fastest year-on-year growth rate at 9.3% and fisheries contracted by 4.0%.
