The National Bank of Bulgaria reported that Governor Dimitar Radev attended the International Monetary Fund and Croatian central bank conference in Dubrovnik and met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and European Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis, with discussions focused on Bulgaria’s progress toward euro area membership. The conference, held on 29–30 May, covered growth and resilience in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. In the bilateral meetings, the talks addressed the expected positive effects of introducing the euro on the economy, household incomes and the business environment, and Bulgaria received support for its efforts on this priority.
