The Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador reported that the Industrial Production Index rose 4.3% in June 2026 from a year earlier, marking six consecutive months of positive growth. Manufacturing led the increase, particularly food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, and export-oriented assembly of electrical components, supported by stronger domestic demand and exports. Electricity production also increased as high temperatures drove record demand for cooling and refrigeration, with liquefied natural gas remaining the main source of supply and oil-fired generation offsetting reduced hydropower availability. Water, wastewater and waste-management activities expanded, while mining and quarrying was the only sector to contract because of the seasonal suspension of salt production and a high comparison base for limestone extraction.
